Lower Back Tattoos May Cause Birthing Complications

June 27 2005

Lower back tattoos may carry birthing risk. Lower back tattoos which are hugely popular amongst young women could have medical consequences down the road according to a recent report. There is a growing consensus that pregnant women with tattoos may not be able to get pain-relieving epidurals when it comes time to give birth.

In worst case scenario it could lead to possible paralysis according to some doctors. It depends on the chemicals in the tattoo's dye, and whether or not they might somehow seep into the lower lumbar area of the spine, affecting the nervous system. The area targeted by the epidural and the most currently popular area for female tattoos intersect.

Soccer Star in Tattoo Cancer Scare!

June 6 2005

English premier league footballer Freddie Ljungberg has recently been told he's been tested for cancer in a health scare caused by the ink used for his tattoos in a recent report.

The Arsenal and Sweden player underwent an operation to remove a gland in his hip just two weeks ago.

Initially it was thought the cause was an old injury but this was discounted and with doctors unable to determine the cause ofthe swelling in his hip they carried out tests including for cancer.

The tests indicated that it was the glands in the hip that had caused it by swelling up but still didn't know why they had become infected.

Doctors concluded that the swelling, which led to a trapped nerve, may have been caused by the ink in his two tattoos of panthers on his back,

The reaction encountered by the player is most unusual as usually the main complications are of contracting hepatitis B or C when having a tattoo from the use of non sterile needles.
