Hello Kitty (ハローキティ, is a fictional character from Japan and was first designed by Ikuko Shimizu in 1974 and brought to the United States in 1976. Since then it has become almost like a cult symbol for millions of fans around the world so it is no surprise that people would request to have Hello Kitty tattooed onto their skin.

The character is portrayed as a female white cat with a red bow and no drawn mouth. The brand rose to greater prominence during the late 1990s when several celebrities such as Mariah Carey adopted Hello Kitty as a fashion statement.
