Firefighter's Wife & Butterflies Tattoo

I always wanted a tattoo but it had to have significance and meaning to me. I know way too many people with impulse tattoos that are unhappy.
After my kids were born I decided my tattoo should represent them. I had an artistic friend experiment with designs incorporating their birth flowers but never came up with anything that wowed me.

They always say don't get a tattoo for a husband, boyfriend, etc. However I'm optimistic about my marriage. I found a picture of a firefighter's wife shirt that I loved, but it had a lot of extra "stuff" that I didn't want. Through collaboration with the tattoo artist and talking about what I did/didn't want and what would/wouldn't work based on his knowledge, I think it came out great.

Other than the fact that he made "FIREFIGHTER'S" two words and it's only suppose to be one. He asked me how to spell it but it never occurred to me he wouldn't know it was two words. I didn't even notice it when he showed me the stencil. I have no one to blame but myself for not being more observant!

The butterflies represent my kids. I wanted them blue and green (their birthstones) and he added pink to the "girl" and yellow to the "boy". He also made their patterns and shapes different, which I really love.

When people ask me what I'll do if I ever get divorced, I simply tell them I'll have an "X" tattooed in front of "WIFE"! That or find myself another fireman! Like I said though, I'm optimistic.

I come from a pretty conservative family who wouldn't appreciate my tattoo so I have it on my lower back and have to remember not to bend over or where my ultra low-rise jeans around them!!!!
