Fetish models and pin-ups from the 1950s are the inspiration behind the current revival in burlesque and fetish models and erotic dancers. The current breed of retro vixens and tattoo girls take their cues from well-known fetish models such as the Burning Angels and Masuimi Max for inspiration on style and tattoos.

The 1950's were the last truly glamorous decade and whenever a touch of ‘glamour’ is required by designers, they always find inspiration from the 1950's or earlier which meant the pin-up revival was a logical progression.

The recent emergence of intimate burlesque nightclubs has also contributed to bringing about the rebirth of this classic pin-up style. Small underground burlesque clubs have started popping up all over the place. Nowadays you can sit down and have a conversation while watching glamorous women perform striptease without the sleazy tag usually asssociated with striptease.

Burlesque is more than just naked chicks. It has almost become an art form with most models and dancers never getting fully naked. Even celebrities, like pop singer Christina Aguilera, are starting to embrace burlesque in their live shows. Fetish models such as a the Suicide Girls have taken this style to the next level.

Sales of rubber clothing and BDSM toys such as whips and bondage gear have also skyrocketed partly driven by the mainstream acceptance of fetish models who are making it onto to the cover of popular Madison Avenue adverts and magazines. It has definitely come a long way from the days of dingy BDSM dungeons in back alleys to prestigous clubs run Marilyn Manson's girlfriend Dita Von Teese, and fetish models popping all over the place up in popular culture.
